Abdur Rahman Alp was the military commander of the Ottoman Empire who played a significant part. His birthplace and date are still uncertain because of a lack of resources and knowledge of him.
He represented not only Ertugrul Ghazi but also his successors, Osman Ghazi and Orhan Ghazi, who also lived a long time like Turgut Alp. Because we are all aware of the Ottoman conquests during the establishment, the victories have played an important part in Abdur Rahman Alp.
He is famous for his conquest of Aydos Castle which was a gateway to Istanbul (Constantinople) and is considered as the start of the conquest of Istanbul.
During his time, the Byzantine Empire invaded the ever-growing Ottoman Empire in order to combat Ghazis' fast riding. These armies were courageously confronted by Abdur Rahman Alp and its other alps and driven back to defend their castles.
Castle of Aydos was founded during the Eastern Roman Empire between the 11th and the 12th centuries. Abdur Rahman Alp took siege of the castle of Aydos under the orders of Sultan Orhan Ghazi, and made history through conquest.
AsikPasazade, A famous historian, wrote that behind the capture of Castle Aydos there was a love story. Once a man who helped her come out of a fire, the daughter of the landlord who was the owner of Aydos Castle, dreamed and fell in love with him.
And during a castle siege, Abdur Rahman Alp went to know that he was the man of his imagination, the same man that saved her and that he was the master of the Ottoman host.
She wrote a letter and threw it at the soldiers, piling it over a wall. It was written in the night that she would assist him in breaching the castle and fighting. And they managed to capture the castle of Aydos by this trick. Their love story leads to happiness, Pasazade says, and they had a boy as well.
In 1329 CE during the reign of Sultan Orhan Ghazi Abdur Rahman Alp was confirmed to die. He's still buried in Erzurum village.
