The story of House Targaryen will be revealed. House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, is coming to HBO and HBO Max. Everything to know so far is here.
What about the House of the Dragon?
On the basis of the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, this series tells the story of House of Targaryen (a.k.a. the home which was given by Daenery Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons) and takes place 300 years before Game of Thrones events.
Do You Know Who’s Behind the Scenes?
The series will serve as co-created by Martin and Ryan Condal (Colony, Hercules). Miguel Sapochnik and Condal are showrunners, and along with Martin and Vince Gerardis, the couple is also executive producers.
The director, Sapochnik, has won Emmy and DGA honors for the "Battle of the Bastards," was nominated for The Long Night" for another Emmy, and winner of the Emmy award in the final season for Best Drama Series.
Who’s in the cast?
Paddy Considine (HBO’s The Third Day and The Outsider) will be playing King Viserys Targaryen. Viserys was chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. Viserys is a warm, kind, and decent guy, but just wants to carry on the legacy of his grandfather, but good men don't always make great kings, as we have learned from Game of Thrones.
