Inspired by Deborah Feldman's autobiography, Unorthodox got critical applause when it was released. Scandalously refused to accept My Hasidic Roots. In Unorthodox season 1, It follows 19-year-old Esty Shapiro (Shira Haas), a Brooklyn-based Satmar Jew. Locked in an arranged marriage with Yanky (Amit Rahav) a Satmar Jew friend, Esty is pressured by the culture to her marriage and start a family.
After learning that she is pregnant, Esty follows in total four-episode miniseries as she goes to Berlin. Once there, she starts to throw out elements of her Jewish past and tries to achieve a scholarship at a conservatory of music. Esty's husband is looking for her, meanwhile. Unorthodox is the first Netflix movie, which is pretty cool, mostly in Yiddish!
Unorthodox left its fans with a few unanswered questions, and Viewers now are wondering to know when the series would come back. This is what we hear from Unorthodox season 2.
Will there be a second season of Unorthodox?
We are not going to produce second season of Unorthodox because we really feel like we have told this story as a conclusion. It was a mini-series. I know that I'll collaborate again with these actors on other several of my project partners. We are in the process of developing a lot of new products. So for this constellation it is not the end of the road, but I don't think we're going to hear about this story again.{alertInfo}
